Yoga Bliss was founded in December 2005 by Nicola Dix, a keen Ashtanga Yoga practitioner. Yoga Bliss is a thriving, friendly, family run business with an emphasis on service and commitment to customer satisfaction. Yoga Bliss has a firm foundation in yoga and where possible, the products we stock have been supplied and tested by other like-minded yogis.
“I started Yoga Bliss because Yoga has become a real passion for me and I wanted to share it with people in a way that still enabled me to practice, study and support my family.”
Nicola’s career background couldn’t be in greater contrast to the world of Yoga. After gaining a degree in Music and Education, she began her working life as an Assistant Sound Engineer at a West End Post Production facility. From there she went on to work with one of her clients at the International video division of PolyGram, the record company. By the time she left PolyGram in 1996, she was responsible for commissioning, producing and exploiting programmes as diverse as Metallica and Torvill & Dean.
“At the time I made the decision to give up my career, my son was three years old and I found that a full time media career wasn’t compatible with bringing up a family.”
After she gave up work, Nicola and her family went through some traumatic years, where they lost their two week old daughter from an inherited metabolic disorder and four more babies after that.
It was the trauma suffered over these years that started me searching for something to help me adjust to ‘life’ and it was at this point in 2001 that one of my best friends introduced me to Ashtanga and to my teacher Denise. I have been practicing ever since…”
It is Nicola’s heartfelt belief that Yoga keeps her sane and that it has literally ‘saved her life’.
“Through Yoga Bliss, I hope to be able to supply really beautiful and unusual products to enhance people’s Yoga practice and environment.”
Nicola is continuing to develop her personal Yoga practice and is currently studying Yoga at every opportunity, including technique workshops, workshops on Yogic philosophy, anatomy and adjustments as well as practicing and studying with her teacher where ever possible.
